Our Impact Our Impact

Everything we do has an environmental or social impact.

Each year, over 20 billion pads, tampons and applicators enter landfills and waterways in North America. Many of these products take over 500 years to biodegrade.

Aisle products

Aisle products are reusable for years, and have a significantly lower environmental footprint compared to conventional tampons and pads.

  • CO2 emissions are reduced up to 95%

  • Energy consumption is reduced up to 94%

  • Waste is reduced

Our customer collective has already diverted over 250 million pads and tampons from landfills, thanks to choosing Aisle.

Fast fashion is destroying the planet

  • The apparel industry is the third worst polluter in the world.

Fast fashion brands are flooding the market with cheaply made period underwear that harm the planet. Don’t be fooled: there’s nothing sustainable about a product that doesn’t last, doesn’t fit and won’t be worn again and again.

Making a material difference

  • Most disposable pads and tampons are made with chemicals and plastics.

At Aisle, we do our very best to source the most sustainable textiles so you can feel really good about your choices. Our pads and underwear use a combination of safe, eco-certified materials like organic cotton, Tencel™, and recycled polyester.

Zero waste,
period.

  • Our pad manufacturing facility is zero waste, and we’ve diverted over 10,800 pounds of textile waste from landfills since 2018.

Annually, we use the third party services of Climate Smart to measure and report on scope 2 and 3 for our GhG emissions.

Our advocacy and support for fair and equal access to essential period products is long-standing, and continues to this day. We are formally committed to give back to our community, with 2% of sales donated in cash or equivalent products towards supporting individuals and non-profits to address period poverty and gender equity.

Our not-so secret agenda

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an urgent call to action to address the climate emergency, fight inequality & injustice, and create a world where no one is left behind. With less than a decade left to deliver on these goals, Aisle is committed to tackling multiple SDGs that play to our strengths — to ensure a more just and equitable future for all.

Here for
every body

You won't have to look far to start uncovering the seemingly endless history of social taboos and body shame constructed around periods.

Aisle has been promoting a shame free and body positive approach to menstruation since 1993. We were one of the first period brands to adopt inclusive language and create gender affirming styles and sizes that fit all bodies.

Taking care of each other
