Good evening everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Thank you to all the parents who came in for a conference on Friday.  I enjoyed talking to each and every one of you.  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful class with such great parents.

This week we will begin the letter H, number 8 and color brown.  We will also be talking about Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful.

We really do have so many things to be thankful for.

Thank you for your continued support,

Ms. Baker and Ms. Ruth

Grandparent's Day

Thank you to all the Grandparent's who were able to come and spend time in our classroom today.  We had a lot of fun and you really made our day special.

Thank you to all the Parent's who participated in our Trunk-or-Treat Day.  Our class was so excited to put on costumes and receive candy.  Some of them have never been Trick-or-Treating so this was a great experience for them.  You are what helps make St. Mary's such a special school!

This week we will be learning about Harvest, the Letter-Gg, Color-Purple, and the number 7.  We will continue reviewing everything we have learned up to this point.

This Friday, November 11, 2016 is Parent/Teacher conference day.  School is closed for children.  If you have not set up a conference yet,  but would like to meet with us please let me know.

Thank you,

Ms. Baker and Ms. Ruth

One School, Many Cultures!

I Love Multicultural Week!  This year our class learned about Sierra Leone.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Boima for making the flag and lending us some items from your country.  Thank you Ms. Temi for lending us the beautiful map of Africa and for traveling around the world with our class.  I had my first try at making African Food.  I made Jollof  Rice and Banana Akara.  I think it was good because it all was eaten.  I feel so blessed to be part of a school that has so many different cultures.

This week we will start on the letter F.  This Friday is Grandparent's day.  Please join us for Mass at 9:00 am. After mass you can join us in our class for some activities.  If your child does not have a Granparent that is able to attend a Special Grand Person is welcome to come.

Pumpkin Patch!!!

Wow, what a way to end the week.  We had an amazing time at Cox Farm.  We went on a hayride, played on slides, climbed on bales of hay and even got the chance to pet a cow.  The children had so much fun.  Thank you Ms. Amare and Mr. Shola for coming and chaperoning.  You make it possible for us to be able to do these fun things.

Fire Prevention Week!

This week we learned about fire safety.  We talked about what to do in case of a fire.  We practiced Stop, Drop, and Roll, crawling under "smoke" and calling 911.  We also went on a scavenger hunt and identified a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, fire alarm, and Exit signs.  The highlight of our week was the Landover Hills Volunteer Fire Department coming for a visit.  The children got to explore the fire truck and talk to the fire fighters.  I was so proud of our students.  The were so excited and engaged.  Thank you so much LHVFD.
